Happy Mother's Day

A stroll along Bermondsey Street yesterday in the sunshine... and could not resist calling by the charming Cave London which sells flowers, wine and chocolate... spoilt for choice on Mother's Day! At the moment it is also showing colourful new paintings by Tom Leamon. I was in simple monochrome: black InWear skinnies, biker boots from Harrods, white T-shirt, some Chanel sunnies and a charcoal cardi from Nicole Farhi.

Purple suede, purple suede

I am indeed amongst the Lady of the Woods - a host of silver birches on London's South Bank and wearing purple: suede jacket, a silk rose and a strip on my patent boots. Whilst the jacket whose colour and cut-of-collar shouts out the '70s, the rest of me is decidedly this century with a Fendi scarf, InWear skinnies... and that rucksack!

Carven cuts it!

This coat of coats, by Carven, draws the eye and plays to the crowd. It is pure Paris since it requires neither introduction nor explanation. It is un vrai mish-mash of denim, dark and bleached, sheepskin pieces and Mongolian lamb fringing. However it was not purchased across the Channel, but closer to home in south London: Paraphernalia, SE4. The coat requires little accompaniment except austere black and the plainest wall of London brick. And whilst there may be more sheep than horse to its composition, it does remind me of a piebald pony I once knew!

Frock coat: by night

The same frock coat - this time by night - worn with perfunctory black but with more stripes from the Mary Quant shirt I wore to my graduation! Back then, I matched it with a cream linen pleated skirt, long since banished from my wardrobe.

Frock coat: by day

What is a stairwell for, if not for a photo opportunity? Beautiful colour-blocking begs for a little pattern - in the form of my finely-striped mono frock coat and further stripes in my funky boots. All else is plainly black - from the InWear skinnies to that rucksack.

Black on blue

A day for staple black... and a faithful rucksack. Sometimes it is the background in one's life which brings the most colour! And yes, I love blue doors - from North Yorkshire to south London!
