The end of colour... as we know it. More specifically, at Turner Contemporary in Margate, where its latest exhibition, Summer of Colour, came to a close earlier this month. Celebrating the works of Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian, from early landscapes and a dazzlingly red windmill to his later distinctive lozenges of colour which inspired the late Yves Saint Laurent, in 1965, to incorporate those block shapes onto shift dresses. I decided to step out in my favourite hot-pink trousers, last worn in 'Carluccio's, South Ken'. The trousers are by British designer, Ally Capellino, who launched her womenswear collection in 1980 and is now best known for her accessories range. My breezy chiffon top is suitably colourful and graphic, whilst the shoes and sunnies, by Roberto Cavalli, are retro but sleek. The three year-old art space on Margate's seafront, designed by David Chipperfield, was also showing ethereal light installations by Brooklyn-based American artist, Spencer Finch, in turn inspired by Turner, who was both schooled and visited the town on sketching trips. Outdoors, on the terrace, contemporary Dutch artist Krijn de Koonig placed 'Dwelling' whose strong Mediterranean colours certainly heated up the Kent town by a few degrees on a September afternoon.

All about the skirt
It doesn't necessarily have to be the most colourful or loudest piece that draws the most attention. In this case the simple lines, yet complex nature, of this white raffia skirt offers pristine perfection midst the boldness of my Paul Smith silk shirt, and the busy-butterfly vintage Dolce & Gabbana boots. Accessories range from Roberto Cavalli sunglasses and white luminescent bag, to a Florenza embellished bracelet, Georgian ring, and dazzling green earrings.

Viva Italia!
Pink and white blooms in Kensington en route to see the newly-opened show at the V&A: The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014. On display are around 100 ensembles and accessories by leading Italian
fashion houses including Simonetta, Pucci, Sorelle Fontana, Valentino,
Gucci, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Marni, Fendi, Prada
and Versace, through to the next generation of fashion talent. The most eye-dazzling display was the extraordinary set of emerald and diamond jewels, once owned by Elizabeth Taylor, and made by Bulgari, sponsors of this exhibition. To match the theme of Italian fashion, I decided to wear a vintage Roberto Cavalli dress, complete with simple, yet classy, black accessories, from my vintage velvet bag, to my Russell & Bromley heels.

Me, thee and a tree!
Is there ever a suitable occasion to wear harem pants, especially in white? Only if you're partially disguised by a tree. The linen trousers may well be consigned to a fancy-dress party. In the meantime, I'm 'daring' them with a black halterneck from Massimo Dutti, 'early' Erickson Beamon earrings, Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, wooden animal-print shoes by Spanish label, Rodo, and a basket... which is just a basket.

Shocking pink in South Ken!
Forget shocking pink in India... the place to wear it is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and to be exact, Carluccio's, to match the colourful fare. The simplest pink linen trousers from Ally Capellino find favour with my funky vintage zip-up in a mad pink, man-made fibre by a label called Gabey, New York. An Osprey shoulder-bag vies for attention with an equally-yellow pair of summer wedges. The pink string necklace was bought in the Channel Islands and allegedly belonged to a showgirl who danced on the Paris stage. The prosecco is perfectly Italian... and so are the Roberto Cavalli sunnies!

It's a wrap!
In the plainest white dress - complemented by buckets of colour, both with my accessories and the entire backdrop! Jewellery is beaded and vintage, sunglasses are by Roberto Cavalli, bag is from a Linda Barker sale a few years ago, and the marvellous multi-coloured pointed shoes are by Red or Dead. And the colourful location is The Street Art House, which is still standing at 265 Lordship Lane, East Dulwich.

Full bloom, full sunshine!
The blooms are gorgeous... and so is the tea at Alexandra Nurseries, south London, in the beautiful sunshine wearing a vivid-green embroidered cotton Catherine Malandrino halter-neck dress with Italian label, Toscana's two-tone '60s block heels and a sprinkling of vintage white jewellery. Even the earrings are daisy-shaped!
